SUNDAY 6TH DECEMBER 2020 - Check in Quins at 9.00am

Meigle Hill, Torwoodlee Estate (including Tower and Broch)

After morning coffee at Quins we will head past Gala Cricket Club before climbing over Meigle Hill to take in the surrounding views. We then walk through Clovenfords and make our way to Torwoodlee estate, home of the Pringle family. We will have the chance to explore the 2000 year old broch on the estate before making a stop at the 400 year old Torwoodlee Tower. From here we make our way back to Galashiels. After a day of craic and witty banter you will be ready to relax with some yummy food at Quins.

Duration - 10 miles, approx time - 6 hours, ascent 500 metres

River Tweed, Boleside and Gala Hill

After the chance of a quick coffee at Quins we will take a lovely walk that will see us walk through the town of Galashiels. We will follow the Gala Water to where it joins the River Tweed. Following the River Tweed and the Southern Upland Way we will take in views of Abbotsford - home of Sir Walter Scott - and will make our way to Gala Hill stopping at the memorial to local poet Roger Quin. We will then make our way to Quins Restaurant where walkers will have the chance of a bit to eat (payable by walkers on the day)
